Job Summary

At The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Visualization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining innovative data visualizations to support our mission to address emerging national challenges.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in data visualization, software engineering, and data science. You will work closely with our development teams to design and implement custom data visualizations to support various problems. You will also collaborate with sponsors and end users to understand their operations and provide visual analysis and situational awareness displays.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement custom data visualizations to support various problems
- Collaborate with sponsors and end users to understand their operations and provide visual analysis and situational awareness displays
- Research and propose new innovative visualization components, frameworks, and approaches for solving cutting-edge sponsor problems

Qualifications

- B.S. in a computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
- Experience with dynamic web frameworks such as VueJs, React, or Angular
- Experience with Java/Kotlin desktop visualization frameworks like Swing, Java FX, or Tornado FX
- Experience with data pipeline, workflow management, and version control tools
- Understanding of software engineering concepts (e.g., object-oriented vs functional, batch vs stream processing)
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance
