We are seeking a skilled Vocational Nurse to join our team at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care and assist patients with activities of daily living.
Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients of all acuity levels, including bathing, hygiene, feeding, ambulation, skin care, and positioning.
- Observe significant changes in patient conditions and document information in the medical record.
- Perform necessary treatments as directed by medical orders, the shift charge nurse, or Team Leader.
- Assist medical providers with diagnostic examinations, including lumbar punctures, liver biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, vaginal examination, and bone marrow biopsies.
- Administer medications under the supervision of a registered nurse or credentialed provider.
- Monitor IV fluid infusions and discontinue IV fluids as directed.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and medical, nursing, and ancillary personnel.
- Follow established safety practices and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients.
- A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
