Aquatic Ecosystem Maintenance Specialist

Position Summary

In response to our expanding operations, Dragonfly Pond Works is seeking an Aquatic Ecosystem Maintenance Specialist to join our dedicated team. If you are enthusiastic about enhancing and preserving stunning outdoor environments and aquatic ecosystems, and if you excel in delivering exceptional customer service through meticulous attention to detail, we invite you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary role will involve overseeing the upkeep of lakes, ponds, and related stormwater management systems. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Identifying and managing invasive plant species,
  • Conducting visual assessments of pond infrastructure,
  • Mowing and trimming vegetation at various sites,
  • Performing minor repairs to ensure compliance, and
  • Enhancing the visual appeal of the locations.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that all tasks are executed on-site in accordance with the client's contract and expectations. We will rely on you to maintain high standards of efficiency and quality. Additionally, you will operate and care for a company vehicle, organize your daily agenda, capture photographs, prepare reports, and, when necessary, assist in training fellow team members with a strong focus on safety protocols.

Qualifications for the Aquatic Ecosystem Maintenance Specialist

  • Must hold an Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Familiarity with aquatic maintenance practices is advantageous.
  • Experience in lake and pond stewardship, pest/herbicide management, or ecological surveying is preferred.
  • Background in fields such as fisheries, wildlife management, conservation, ecology, biology, environmental science, or forestry is desirable.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of the techniques and tools utilized in lake and pond management and maintenance.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to swim.
  • Capacity to lift weights up to 75 pounds.
  • Extensive walking on both flat and inclined terrain.
  • Frequent travel within the designated region.
  • Capability to tow and operate a small boat and utility vehicle.
  • Comfortable with extensive walking requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals, including clients and team members.
  • Proficiency in mobile applications is an asset.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Basic math skills for calculating appropriate product application levels.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
