Job Overview

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role in delivering care to patients in various emergency situations. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals during transport to medical facilities.

Position Details

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Operations Manager and Medical Control Physician
Department: Ground

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Assess emergency scenes for safety and potential hazards.
  • Manage and control hazards at emergency sites.
  • Evaluate the nature and severity of injuries or illnesses and prioritize care accordingly.
  • Administer advanced life support techniques and medications under physician supervision.
  • Extricate patients from hazardous situations.
  • Provide specialized rescue services as trained.
  • Perform triage and manage mass casualty incidents.
  • Lift and transport patients as needed.
  • Utilize communication equipment to consult with medical professionals and inform hospitals of patient conditions.
  • Document patient care and transport details accurately.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations regarding emergency medical services.
  • Report patient conditions and interventions to receiving physicians.
  • Maintain emergency response vehicles and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Engage in ongoing medical education and training.
Professional Relationships

Maintain professionalism and excellence in all interactions, treating everyone with respect and courtesy. Collaborate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications
  • Valid NR EMT license.
  • Alabama State EMSP license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 150 lbs independently.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as twisting, bending, and pushing.
  • Comfortable working in confined and mobile environments.
Work Availability

Must be available for assignment 24 hours a day during duty shifts and arrive on time, prepared for emergency response.
