Custodian, Head I Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodian, Head I to join our team at Cobb County School District. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for supervising and assisting in the total custodial program of our schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign duties and supervise custodial staff to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of our schools.
  • Report problem areas to the Head Custodian II and provide solutions to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Provide on-call support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to address any custodial issues that may arise.
  • Oversee the proper use and storage of all equipment and supplies.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
  • Maintain an understanding of custodial procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with district standards.
  • Secure buildings as directed and perform cleaning duties, including dining areas and ceilings up to 10 feet in height.
  • Assume Head Custodian II duties as needed and perform other duties assigned by appropriate designees.

Requirements:

  • Minimum one-year CCSD custodial experience or minimum three years custodial experience outside CCSD.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities, including walking, standing, kneeling, negotiating stairs and ladders, and lifting and transporting 75 pounds over short distances.
  • Written and oral communication skills, leadership skills, and ability to operate cleaning equipment.

Working Conditions: This is a full-time position with a shift start time of 2:00 AM and a shift end time of 10:30 PM. The job category is Custodian.
