Job Summary

As an MRI Technologist at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and achieving exceptional imaging results. Working under the supervision of the MRI Manager, site-specific Lead Tech, or Radiologist, you will be responsible for operating MRI equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a high level of patient care. Your expertise will be essential in screening patients and staff entering zone 3 and 4 to guarantee magnet safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures proficiently, maintaining high-quality images and adhering to scanning protocols. This includes proper positioning, coil selection, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols. Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged accurately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam. 35%
  • Identify patients using two patient identifiers, communicate with patients and medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaires, and obtain completed questionnaires and pertinent clinical history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering the department. Communicate with medical staff about sedation needs and inform patients and families of delays. 30%
  • Prepare scan rooms for procedures using approved cleaning protocols, discard sharps, and maintain an appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms. 10%
  • Administer contrast materials associated with MRI procedures within the scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocols. 5%
  • Implement emergency procedures as needed. 5%
  • Perform department and hospital-related computer functions pertinent to the job, enter and record data accurately and promptly. 5%
  • Exhibit competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met. 5%
  • Stay up-to-date with organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift. 5%
  • Provide clinical instruction to staff technologists and students, and prepare staff schedules to ensure the department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow. 5%

Requirements

  • Certification Program - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT registered in Radiology & MRI; OR
  • ARRT registered in MRI; OR
  • ARMRIT - American Registry of MRI certification
  • BLS certified
