Responsibilities:- Patient Care: Provide routine patient care within an assigned unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, and comfort.
- Assist with Patient Plan of Care: Assist with patient's plan of care by providing and/or assisting with activities of daily living, including but not limited to personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, and comfort.
- Coordinate Daily Patient Care Activities: Effectively and efficiently coordinate daily patient care activities on the nursing unit.
- Assist with Patient Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers: Assist nursing staff to better facilitate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Perform Various Duties: Perform a variety of duties both within and in support of assigned unit as delegated by nursing staff.
- Respond to Patient Requests: Respond to patient's call lights/requests and report to appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Assist with Patient Nutrition: Assist patients in meeting nutritional needs, including but not limited to assisting with feeding, providing fluids and supplements.
- Order and Stock Supplies: Order, stock, and replenish unit supplies and necessary equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
- Participate in Budget Preparation: Participate in identifying unit financial responsibility during budget preparation.
- Assist with Keeping Unit within Budget: Assist with keeping unit within its budget restraints.
- Facilitate Unit Communication: Facilitate unit communication including, but not limited to, telephones, intercom system, call light system, computers, etc. and relays information as appropriate.
- Communicate Patient Information: Communicate patient information, concerns, or issues to appropriate interdisciplinary team member(s).
- Facilitate Communication among Visitors, Employees, and Physicians: Facilitate and direct communication among visitors, employees, and physicians within assigned unit.
- Welcome Visitors: Welcome visitors to the unit by greeting them, answering questions, giving directions, and referring inquiries as appropriate to nursing staff.
- Answer Telephone Calls: Answer telephone and directs calls and inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member.
- Provide Excellent Customer Service: Polite and friendly in all interactions whether by phone or in person.
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare team.
- Document Care Provided: Document care provided using worksheets and/or the electronic medical record.
- Adhere to Professional Standards: Adhere to professional standards, behavioral standards, and hospital policies as set forth by the organization.
- Comply with Applicable Regulations: Comply with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality by protecting personal healthcare information of all patients.
