Job Title: Senior Manager, Financial Analysis

Travelers Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Financial Analysis to join our Personal Insurance Finance team. As a key member of our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, you will be responsible for overseeing the competitive intelligence function, providing competitor and industry insights to business partners, and supporting the broader Financial Reporting and Planning team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the competitor earnings process, providing coaching, training, and oversight to team members.
  • Synthesize individual competitor results to communicate key themes and insights to leadership.
  • Respond to inquiries from business partners and senior leaders, utilizing competitor and industry resources to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead the update of industry reporting and analysis efforts for the US and Canada, identifying key industry trends.
  • Drive enhancements to work products and processes, including building out tracking for new carriers and developing competitor scorecards.
  • Provide support to the overall Financial Reporting and Planning team, including the financial close and planning processes.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and validate complex financial and operational reports, improving the process and effectiveness of the content delivered.
  • Review team members' reports and provide feedback on accuracy and presentation.
  • Perform analysis of trends and variances in business performance against broad business objectives.
  • Perform testing and validation of data and analyses, communicating data limitations and gaps.
  • Prepare and present financial insights to financial leaders and/or functional teams.
  • Manage the creation of complex analyses to support business strategy.
  • Review competitor press releases, SEC filings, and industry trade press for helpful insights, linking key themes together and identifying applicability to departmental strategies.
  • Participate and/or lead in projects involving complex analysis and implementation of non-complex, routine business and financial regulatory changes.
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Oversee and engage direct reports, performing management activities such as performance management, career development, and talent acquisition.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in finance or accounting.
  • Experience with Financial Analysis concepts, principles, and processes, and accounting practices and principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of management.
  • Leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor and develop employees.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret trends and provide insights and recommendations to business partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through to ensure timely completion.
  • Ability to think strategically and use judgment to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Financial Reporting Software.
  • Ability to understand how supported areas' business strategy and plan objectives align with enterprise goals.
