As a Middle School Math Teacher at Uncommon Schools, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social-emotional growth. Your primary focus will be on teaching foundational middle school math principles, including ratio/proportions, expressions/equations, and the number system.

Instruction

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Use our in-house CCSS-based Math curriculum and culturally responsive problem-solving activities to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Encourage students to grapple with complex math concepts and think critically about different solutions.
  • Foster a love of mathematics in students and promote confidence in their ability to learn and apply mathematical concepts.
Data Analysis
  • Analyze student work samples and assessments to identify areas of strength and weakness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all learners.
School Culture
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive school community.
  • Partner with families to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and stay up-to-date on best practices in mathematics education.
