Position Overview:

The Logistics Operations Supervisor is integral to our Distribution Center, collaborating closely with the Director of Supply Chain Operations to enhance vital transportation and supply chain strategies. The focus is on optimizing process efficiencies, achieving substantial cost reductions, and making informed decisions that elevate transportation performance and cost metrics. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive work atmosphere that emphasizes customer service, carrier efficiency, routing, billing, and the management of third-party carriers responsible for freight delivery across the store network. The Logistics Operations Supervisor will oversee a team of three (3) to five (5) coordinators, clerks, and analysts, managing a multimillion-dollar annual budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and delegates tasks to transportation and shipping staff.
  • Manages carrier selection and routing for domestic less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload (FTL), intermodal freight for inbound/outbound shipments, and small parcel carriers.
  • Handles carrier tariffs and pricing agreements, auditing transportation freight bills, and resolving carrier claims and settlements.
  • Collaborates with the Director on carrier selection to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Coordinates extra load planning with Distribution Center partners to maximize trailer efficiency, ensuring optimal service for internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for route planning related to new store openings/closings, route consolidation, and peak planning.
  • Maintains and manages carrier rate files.
  • Audits and inputs carrier freight invoices into the designated spreadsheets.
  • Contributes to the development and upkeep of corporate transportation and logistics management standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Communicates essential transportation information to all logistics team members as necessary and provides cross-training as required.
  • Exhibits a commitment to Kirkland's core values.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transportation Operations.
  • High school diploma required; a college degree is preferred.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to maintain composure while multitasking.
  • Familiarity with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with strong business acumen.
