About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pet Care Professional to join our team at Banfield Pet Hospital. As a key member of our veterinary care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our furry patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality veterinary care to pets.
- Advocate for pets and educate clients on all aspects of pet health.
- Ensure a safe and effective hospital environment.
- Perform or prepare procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance.
- Complete preparatory work for other procedures.
- Monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed in the state practice acts.
- Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, and other issues.
- Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
- Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Assist with surgery as applicable.
- Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking fluent English.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- Mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability.
- Sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while at the hospital.
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
