Job Summary:

As a Phlebotomist at Medical City North Hills, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services. Your primary responsibility will be to collect blood specimens from patients, using a variety of techniques including finger sticks, heel sticks, and venipunctures. You will also be responsible for labeling specimens, entering data into the computer, and preparing samples for testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods
  • Draw blood specimens from patients using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures
  • Label specimens accurately and enter specimen data into the computer
  • Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments
  • Assist with clerical duties, including answering telephone calls
Requirements:
  • HR diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience
  • Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred
  • Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire
