Power System Integration Engineer

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is in search of a dedicated Planning Engineer to enhance their Generation Integration team. This role entails overseeing technical evaluations associated with the integration of new generation, transmission, and load facilities into the New York State transmission network. The Planning Engineer will also work closely with various departments to compile reports, address inquiries, and assist in the formulation of essential documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess proposed project facilities and their designs for integration
- Develop foundational cases for integration studies
- Facilitate technical assessments for integration studies
- Analyze system enhancement needs and create cost projections
- Draft integration study reports and related documentation
- Conduct project study meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory; a Master's degree is advantageous
- At least two years of experience in power system planning or design is essential
- Familiarity with software tools such as Power Flow, Transfer Capability Analysis, Stability, and Short Circuit is required
- Understanding of reliability standards and practices is necessary
Additional Skills:
- Capability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents
- Intermediate proficiency in Windows operating systems and MS Office applications
- Strong foundation in advanced mathematical concepts
- Ability to employ logical and scientific reasoning in problem-solving
Work Environment:
The role requires the employee to communicate effectively, stand, walk, sit, and utilize hands for various tasks. Occasional lifting and travel may be necessary. The position may involve working during nights, weekends, or holidays.
NYISO provides competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package, and various rewards programs. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Compensation Range: $74,000—$123,600 USD
