Nutrition Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled WIC Nutritionist to join our team at Comprehensive Community Action. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing nutrition information and education to WIC participants, conducting nutrition assessments, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate the nutritional status of WIC clients and provide personalized nutrition education to promote positive change in dietary habits.
• Assign food packages to WIC participants based on individual needs and ensure accurate counseling.
• Troubleshoot computer problems with the QWIC system and maintain accurate patient records.
• Participate in JCAHO quality improvement committee meetings and ensure compliance with state and federal standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum of BS Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Licensure in the State of Rhode Island, preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to enter data and type SOAP notes.
• Skilled in anthropometric and hematological measures, including lead and iron testing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively educate patients.

Work Environment:

The WIC Nutritionist will work in a fast-paced office environment, with some manual dexterity required for keyboard work and blood draws. The position requires moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
