About the Role

At OMRON, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of direct/indirect electrical and electronics materials for assigned commodities and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Management: Lead sourcing activities for assigned direct/indirect commodities and recommend business awards to ensure sourcing recommendations align with OMRON's sourcing strategies.
  • Supply Base Management: Proactively manage the supply base, including managing supplier scorecards to drive continuous improvement with the supply base.
  • Market Analysis: Identify market opportunities with a strong understanding of cost drivers for the electrical and electronics industry.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate terms and conditions to minimize risk to OMRON.
  • Cost Reduction: Lead negotiations in support of cost reduction activities, including price reduction and cost optimization to ensure department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved.
  • Supplier Management: Manage supplier material return process, facilitating necessary quality improvements from the supply base, and prompt credit issuance to OMRON as required.
  • Order Management: Support the order management process by verifying lead time accuracy and data accuracy to meet production and forecasting requirements.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate status updates and progression to stakeholders at multiple levels of the various business units.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3 years or more of related experience and/or training in printed circuit board assembly manufacturing, including surface mount technology (SMT), testing (ICT flying probe), fixturing, wave soldering, selective soldering, and programming.
  • Knowledge: Excellent working knowledge of current Electrical and Electronics industry component pricing, ability to analyze pricing and make recommendations.
  • Inventory Management: Practical experience with inventory management, including inventory relocation and product life cycle.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Management, Engineering, or related field from a four (4) year college or technical school.
  • Skills: Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with statistical process control and basic statistical evaluation methods. Computer database and spreadsheet experience essential.
