Facilities and Grounds Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated, full-time Facilities and Grounds Supervisor for Nature's Classroom New England. This role is pivotal in overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, and enhancement of our facilities and outdoor spaces. The Facilities & Grounds Supervisor will lead a team of both full-time and seasonal staff, ensuring that our environment remains welcoming and functional.

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general maintenance of buildings and grounds, including tasks such as minor carpentry, cleaning, electrical work, furniture assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, and snow removal.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and documentation of all building systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, building access control, and plumbing systems.
  • Manage contracts for maintenance and repairs, including scope development, bidding, scheduling, and record-keeping.
  • Act as the primary liaison with Operations Directors for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including inspections.
  • Conduct inspections of building structures and systems to ensure safety and integrity.
  • Collaborate with various departments on campus, including culinary, retreats, and administration.
  • Possess knowledge of landscaping principles, including soil management and drainage.
  • Maintain and repair small engines and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Safely operate vehicles and equipment, including trucks, tractors, and snow plows.
  • Manage budgets related to grounds and building maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; advanced education preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related tasks.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or maintenance; education may substitute for experience.
  • Facility certification in a major discipline (electric, HVAC, plumbing, or building design) is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools.
  • Comfortable operating machinery and tools in various weather conditions.
