Job Summary

As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in implementing statewide policies and operational procedures for the Clinical Staffing Process, ensuring compliance with Department and Children Family Services (DCFS) policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Implementation: Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator to facilitate the Clinical Staffing Process as a critical Clinical team member.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage youth, biological families, caregivers, and other key stakeholders, ensuring they are equal participants.
  • Environment Safety: Ensure a safe environment for all meeting attendees, encouraging open communication and sharing issues, concerns, and necessary interventions.
  • Psychoeducation: Provide psychoeducation to youth, families, and caregivers as needed.
  • Decision-Making: Empower youth and families by giving them a voice during meetings' decision-making process.
  • Best Practices: Model best practices for Child and Family Team Meetings, ensuring team members understand the process.
  • Action Plan Support: Provide ongoing support for implementing action plans developed during meetings, including assisting with placement decisions and communication between the Child and Family Team, Placement Team, and providers.
  • Matching and Referral: Track and manage the matching/referral and pre-placement interview processes for youth requiring new placements or higher levels of care.
  • Participant Engagement: Ensure all participants feel heard and valued, focusing the Clinical Staffing Process team on making decisions that prioritize the child's safety and well-being in the least restrictive manner possible.
  • Group Discussions: Co-lead group discussions, ensuring all participants understand the meeting's purpose and have an opportunity to contribute.
  • Conflict Resolution: Foster a supportive, respectful environment that encourages communication and manages conflict effectively.
  • Knowledge Management: Periodically summarize, clarify, and reframe discussions to ensure group alignment and assist in reaching quality decisions with safety and action plans in place.
  • Policy Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, agency policies, best practices, and services, monitor compliance, and guide staff accordingly.
  • Meeting Management: Co-manage the meeting process with the Clinical partner, ensuring high-quality decision-making and intervening when necessary.
  • Decision-Making: Strive for consensus in decision-making, recognizing the authority of DCFS staff to make final decisions when consensus cannot be reached.
  • Documentation: Ensure the accurate documentation of decisions and action plans developed during meetings.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute to team meetings and quality assurance efforts to foster a collaborative environment and ensure the continuous improvement of the Clinical Staffing Process.
Qualifications
  • A master's Degree in a Human Services-related field with at least two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
  • Experience in healthcare or with Joint Commission safety standards is preferred.
