We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician I to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Environmental Services Technician I, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Disinfecting: Clean and disinfect assigned areas, including patient rooms, offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and other areas of the hospital and/or off-site facilities.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, following department procedures.
- Chemical Handling: Use chemicals and solutions following department policy, and ensure that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate a commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding customer expectations, utilizing AIDET with both internal and external customers.
- Room Preparation: Prepare rooms for patients, including washing and sanitizing beds, making beds with clean linen, and thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing entire rooms and washrooms.
- Supply Management: Select cleaning materials and supplies appropriate to the job, transport them to work areas, and replenish supplies as needed.
- Waste Management: Collect and/or distribute soiled and/or clean linens, collect trash and/or waste from all areas of the hospital, and separate regular and recycle trash according to procedure.
- Professional Growth: Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and competence, attending mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and inservices, completing annual CBTs, and seeking education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs.
- Attendance and Punctuality: Maintain proper attendance requirement outlined in the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual, and provide adequate notice to department management of absence.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Skills: Basic computer skills, ability to operate small electrical equipment, excellent customer service skills, and ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, and use lifting equipment for heavier lifts.
Job responsibilities involve working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, and may require working in areas with strong cleaning chemicals and equipment.
