Job Description
Position Summary
The Residential Mortgage Sales Leader is accountable for overseeing the loan production of a designated team of four to six Mortgage Loan Officers within a specific geographic area. This role involves coordinating sales and business development initiatives under the guidance of the Regional Mortgage Sales Manager for the respective region. Responsibilities include recruiting Mortgage Loan Officers for the territory and collaborating with the Regional Mortgage Sales Manager to drive revenue growth, manage expenses, and enhance operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in people management by attracting top talent, establishing performance goals, fostering staff development, and managing employee performance and compensation.
- Ensure profitable growth for the assigned team within the sub-market, aiming to meet or exceed established objectives.
- Work closely with the Regional Sales Manager to oversee all production aspects of the business in the sub-market.
- Assist in the management of business pipelines by maintaining awareness of team files in progress.
- Proactively contribute to the identification of new referral sources for individual Mortgage Loan Officers.
- Evaluate and address the development and training needs of the defined team.
- Manage a team of 8-12 Mortgage Loan Officers, conducting performance reviews, training, and overseeing administrative tasks.
- Actively recruit Mortgage Loan Officers for the market.
- Participate in regional retail meetings as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with local Retail Management and support referral strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all training requirements and manage direct reports to meet compliance standards.
- Engage with prospects identified through various channels, explaining mortgage products and guiding them through the application process.
- Ensure accurate completion of applications and manage customer expectations regarding processing times and closing dates.
- Generate referrals for mortgage sales opportunities and other company products.
- Develop strategies to achieve sales targets with support from sales management.
- Maintain accurate records in the mortgage loan system and prepare necessary documentation for underwriting.
- Communicate effectively with customers, underwriters, and processors throughout the loan process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in mortgage origination.
- At least 3 years of management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the mortgage industry and guidelines.
- Strong sales and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team.
- Stay informed on industry trends and products.
- Competitive nature with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
