Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GNC) Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our GNC team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing navigation systems, target track filters, and mid-course and terminal guidance algorithms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GNC theory, test, and analysis, with experience developing and verifying models of concept flight systems and subsystems. Proficiency with Simulink and analysis and optimization in Matlab is also required.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze aided navigation systems, target track filters, and mid-course and terminal guidance algorithms
  • Analyze and integrate strapdown seekers, GPS receivers, radar data, and inertial measurement units
  • Flight test support, data reduction, and verification
  • Use Kalman filtering and other estimation techniques to provide aided navigation solutions, target state estimates, and other observers for guided flight
  • Apply digital signal processing techniques and navigation system error analysis to verify sensor and filter performance
  • Generate preflight performance predictions and adjust based on post-flight reconstruction and analysis
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software tools, including evaluation of nominal and Monte Carlo flight conditions at various levels of modeling fidelity
  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other contract deliverables related to designs, analyses, and tests performed

Requirements

Typically requires a Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Mathematics or Applied Physics and 8+ years of experience in GNC theory, test, and analysis. Demonstrated experience with Simulink and Matlab is required. Proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible engineer with excellent interpersonal skills is desired.

Preferred Requirements

Experience as a technical fellow or other technical lead within GNC work is preferred. Current Department of Defense Secret Clearance is also preferred. PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Mathematics or Applied Physics is preferred. Experience with requirements analysis, stability analysis, and mission effectiveness analysis is also preferred.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $140,690 - $239,140
