We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer in Training to join our Community Development - Renewable Energy Group in Chicago, Illinois. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative renewable energy projects that positively impact communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems.
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers, project managers, and other team members to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.
  • Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
  • Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
  • Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
  • Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
Qualifications
  • Ability and interest in working on a variety of renewables (solar, wind, etc.) type of projects for various clients.
  • Seeking a motivated individual who is enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized, and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design.
  • Desire to work on projects with a focus on sustainability and green infrastructure.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs, and other similar materials.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
