Key Responsibilities- Coordinate field investigations and laboratory testing to inform geotechnical engineering design recommendations.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses for bridge foundations, retaining walls, and earthen embankments for roadways, railroads, dams, and levees.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and memos to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Review and edit the geotechnical aspects of plans and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Observe construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and identify potential issues.
- Conduct site reconnaissance to plan geotechnical investigations and identify potential risks.
- Experience with Iowa transportation projects.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Experience with local geology (Nebraska/Iowa).
- Technical and budget management of geotechnical tasks.
- Project management experience.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision.
- Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, or other software as appropriate.
- Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage, and deep foundation response software, as appropriate.
- Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog).
