About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate field investigations and laboratory testing to inform geotechnical engineering design recommendations.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses for bridge foundations, retaining walls, and earthen embankments for roadways, railroads, dams, and levees.
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and memos to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Review and edit the geotechnical aspects of plans and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Observe construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and identify potential issues.
  • Conduct site reconnaissance to plan geotechnical investigations and identify potential risks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Iowa transportation projects.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
  • Experience with local geology (Nebraska/Iowa).
  • Technical and budget management of geotechnical tasks.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision.
  • Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, or other software as appropriate.
  • Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage, and deep foundation response software, as appropriate.
  • Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog).
