Job Title: Residential Aide
Job Classification: 16 Hrs. Weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Title of Supervisor: Program Supervisor
Organizational Unit: Catholic Social Services (McAuley House)
The Residential Aide plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and well-being of residents during their stay at McAuley House. This position requires a high level of responsibility, as the Aide is accountable for ensuring the residents adhere to the policies and procedures of McAuley House and the Office of Homeless Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement the mission and philosophy of McAuley House in daily work.
- Respond to doorbell, telephone, and client inquiries, taking messages for Administrative Staff as needed.
- Complete shift notes and incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Write reports to Case Managers and the Program Supervisor regarding residents, incidents, and concerns.
- Perform hourly house checks and manage potential conflicts among residents.
- Supervise and check resident chores to ensure completion.
- Prepare and serve clients meals according to the menu.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including laundering rugs, shower curtains, and other linens, as well as cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, mopping kitchen, dining room, hallway, floors, and sanitizing banisters.
- Observe residents take prescribed medication and sign off as instructed.
- Perform urine drug tests as needed.
- Count off on all controlled medication when relieving staff before and after the shift.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and educational in-service training.
- Conduct monthly fire and safety drills.
- Follow all emergency protocols when necessary.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Program Supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Ability to apply and enforce policies and procedures of McAuley House and the Office of Homeless Services.
- Effective writing and communication skills.
- Competent decision-making skills.
- Ability to respond appropriately to delicate crises.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of the issues affecting women living with HIV.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic cooking skills.
- Experience working with women diagnosed with mental health disorders, substance use, and compromised immune systems, i.e., HIV.
