Job ResponsibilitiesChamberlain College of Nursing is seeking Part-Time Clinical Instructors to educate students enrolled in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
This role presents an exceptional opportunity to enhance your experience as a nurse educator within the largest nursing school in the nation, which has a rich history of over 130 years in nursing education.
Clinical instruction will take place onsite at one of our clinical partner locations.
Schedule: Typically involves 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) for three to four consecutive days every six or seven weeks.
Chamberlain students engage in practice settings that encompass hospitals, long-term care facilities, community health organizations, faith-based service entities, and public health agencies, among others.
Course Focus:
This course aims to broaden the nursing practice scope for senior nursing students, concentrating on the needs of adult patients concerning health promotion and the management of acute and chronic conditions. The nursing process is utilized to discuss health alterations affecting specific life processes, while students continue to develop their professional skills as integral members of the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical instruction and service to the College, community, healthcare system, and profession.
- Assume responsibility for all independent aspects of individual teaching assignments.
- Design clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
- Be accessible to staff at the clinical agencies.
- Assess and provide documented feedback to students regarding their performance based on course objectives.
- Be available for student remediation as necessary.
- Stay informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency personnel.
- Develop and distribute written clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge, skill levels, and individual learning needs.
- Grade and return assignments, quizzes, tests, and other written work promptly.
- Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.
- May teach didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
- Keep the course coordinator updated on all student and agency-related issues.
- Collaborate with college administration, staff, and faculty to enhance the overall operation of the college and improve student satisfaction.
- Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention initiatives, and departmental and campus policies.
- Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, professionalism, and attendance.
- Utilize interpersonal skills in situations requiring group problem-solving and consensus-building.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all policies and standards.
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within the last five years in nursing practice as a medical-surgical registered nurse is required.
- Exceptional communication skills with a high level of initiative and sound judgment.
- Professional Nurse licensure is required in Alabama.
- Illinois nursing license must be obtained prior to accepting any clinical contract for a given session.
Compensation:
In accordance with pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate's education and experience. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors permitted by law, including course type, experience, geographic location, licensure, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
