Critical Care Nurse Specialist

Aequor Technologies, a leading healthcare and education staffing company, seeks a highly skilled Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our team. This 13-week contract position offers a unique opportunity to work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a premier healthcare facility in Edmond, OK.
Job Summary
As a Critical Care Nurse Specialist, you will provide comprehensive and critical care to patients in the ICU, monitoring vital signs and managing life-sustaining treatments. You will administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products as prescribed by physicians, ensuring precise dosing and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide critical care to patients in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs and managing life-sustaining treatments
- Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products as prescribed by physicians
- Manage and operate advanced medical equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and hemodynamic monitors
- Assess and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care when necessary
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary ICU team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Perform routine and emergency procedures, such as intubations, central line placements, and cardiac monitoring
- Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, explaining complex medical information and updates on the patient's condition
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in electronic health records (EHR)
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and ICU policies to maintain a safe and sterile patient environment
- Participate in code situations and other medical emergencies, providing critical support to the care team
Requirements
- Current RN state license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU or critical care setting
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Strong knowledge of critical care procedures, equipment, and pharmacology
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-stress, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
