The Gap Platform Photo Studio is on the lookout for a skilled and seasoned photographer to serve as a vital link with our brand partners in the enhancement and execution of On-Figure Product Photography with a high degree of expertise, skill, and efficiency. This role will report to and collaborate with the Sr. Director of Photo Production & Technology, focusing on the production requirements of one of our brand partners. You will engage with key brand stakeholders regarding lighting, on-set direction, and visual aesthetics essential for maintaining consistency in the creation of branded product photography assets. You will adeptly troubleshoot on-set photography challenges and execute the brand's creative direction while clearly articulating the rationale behind decisions to support the brand's vision. This position aims to enhance studio performance against operational metrics and budget while upholding and advancing the brand's creative vision without compromising quality. You will also explore innovative shooting techniques for new categories or initiatives while adhering to new processes and providing feedback for successful implementation.Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver top-tier photography/video for Athleta, Gap, and Banana Republic.
  • Lead product photography efforts for the assigned brand, consistently collaborating with key brand stakeholders to gather feedback and fully comprehend the seasonal vision necessary for executing photography and video assets.
  • Operate in the studio under the guidance of the Sr. Director, Photo Production and Technology, while working independently and alongside Account Managers, Art Directors, and Stylists to capture digital images of products at scale.
  • Photograph ecommerce products on-figure, with the capability to capture off-figure as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sr. Director, Photo Production and Technology to identify innovative photography methods that ensure agility and flexibility while meeting or exceeding production goals. This is achieved through strong partnerships with managers, account managers, photographers, stylists, art directors, product coordinators, and sample managers to fulfill production expectations.
  • Lead the on-set team to accurately complete daily shot goals as established by the Account Management team, ensuring that daily workloads are completed within service level agreements - raising concerns when jeopardized and working with Account Managers and studio leadership to resolve any roadblocks.
  • Proactively identify workflow or process challenges and utilize critical thinking to provide the Sr. Director, Photo Production and Technology with potential solutions, ensuring the creation of all process documentation.
  • Maintain consistently high standards for accuracy, aesthetics, and productivity.
  • Develop techniques and best practices for shooting new categories/projects.
  • Maintain photography technical execution guides within the studio for the assigned brand.
  • Collect and analyze data and test solutions for process improvements and new initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in photography or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume commercial fashion studio with respected photographers, preferably for premium brands or innovative branding firms.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a commercial fashion photographer.
  • A professional photography portfolio showcasing expert-level knowledge of digital photography, including lighting, composition, color quality, and aesthetics.
  • A clear understanding of all stages of the photography process, with the ability to direct the team for execution.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing e-commerce environment as a team player.
  • Proven experience collaborating with Art Directors, Stylists, Production, and freelance talent.
  • Self-motivated with effective communication skills for sharing creative ideas and collaborating in a multi-team environment.
  • Quality-focused with a reputation for being a quick problem solver to ensure productivity and adherence to time-to-market standards.
  • Exceptional work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to On Figure and Off Figure studio needs based on volume and peak times within the broader studio environment.
  • Experience with various photo production techniques, including figure product, on-figure marketing, lay-down product, and marketing photography across all categories, including sports photography.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high workflow volumes, including prioritization, planning, and task delegation under tight deadlines.
  • High-level proficiency with industry-standard software tools (Photoshop and Capture One) and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
  • Proficiency in color management policies.
  • High-level proficiency with Digital Camera Systems functionality (both still and video) as well as standard studio lighting techniques and traditional grip practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
