This role is integral to the Electrification Smart Buildings division in North America and reports to the Business Manager - E2E.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this capacity, you will:
- Adapt and implement the sales support strategy for your designated area, aligning with the global support framework.
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Application Engineers to deliver technically sound and cost-effective solutions that enhance customer processes.
- Support sales development within your region by defining and evolving the Application team and application sales strategy.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with consulting engineers, end users, and EPC customers to identify electrical project requirements, providing design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting, and educating stakeholders on ABB solutions.
- Reviewing project specifications and customer requirements to deliver electrical solutions, including one-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout and equipment drawings, specifications, and budget pricing for critical power applications.
- Serving as the local product expert in UPS/battery systems, power conditioning, power distribution switchgear, transfer switches, and arc flash mitigation.
- Demonstrating a strong blend of critical power systems design capabilities and effective communication skills, ensuring complex concepts are conveyed clearly to a diverse audience, including engineers, account managers, contractors, and channel partners.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A B.S. degree in engineering, preferably electrical, with a minimum of six years of experience in the electrical distribution sector, or a master's degree with four years of relevant experience.
- PE certification is advantageous.
- Prior experience in field, factory, or design engineering related to electrical power systems in data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, UL/CSA.
- A willingness to travel up to 25%.
