Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at Fresenius Medical Center. As an integral member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in supporting our physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in performing various interventional radiology procedures, including preparing the patient and procedure room, setting up equipment, and maintaining a sterile technique.
  • Operate and maintain radiological equipment, including C-Arm and ultrasound equipment, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct patient transfers and positioning, and transport patients to and from procedure rooms.
  • Input patient data into the C-Arm and process x-ray images for archiving.
  • Act as a scrub assistant during interventional procedures, maintaining a sterile technique and adhering to company policies and regulations.
  • Comply with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Draw up intravenous medication and label as per company policy.
  • Process x-ray images and archive to a CD or DVD, ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations.
  • Provide outstanding quality of patient care by supporting and driving Fresenius Medical Center's quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and practicing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
  • Assist with implementing quality goals and facility-specific action plans to achieve Fresenius Medical Center's quality standards.
  • Ensure medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics, ensuring all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe on a daily basis.
  • Inspect equipment daily, making recommendations for replacement or repair as needed.
  • Assist with disposal of hazardous waste materials, dirty linen, and rugs.
  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.
  • Attend and participate in governing body meetings, assisting with agenda preparation and data gathering.
  • Ensure effective communication with physicians and staff.
  • Attend and participate in CQI meetings with physicians, reporting on assigned topics.
  • Work with physicians and staff to ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are available.
  • Address physician concerns in areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in training and orienting new employees on equipment.
  • Ensure patient billing is accurate and timely by reviewing procedures, documenting patient equipment charges, and verifying CPT and ICD9 codes.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering of supplies, and re-stocking of supplies.
  • Act as Radiation Safety Officer, monitoring radiation badges and conducting in-services on radiation safety.
  • Participate in facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans to address any deficiencies identified.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree desirable; and Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Must have ARRT Certification and be a licensed Radiology Technician by the Department of Health.
  • Per state requirements, must be licensed in radiology.
  • Interventional Radiology certificate preferred.
  • 4-6 years' related experience desirable, with ARRT Certifications considered for this position with at least 1 year of experience desirable.
  • Working knowledge of interventional equipment, procedures, and materials/supplies needed for each procedure.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques.
  • Experience with special procedures utilizing a C-Arm.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective devices to be utilized when operating radiology systems.
  • Successfully complete BLS certification.
  • Experience with monitoring and maintaining inventory.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related software such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
