Job Title: Lead RF Systems Engineer

At Rain Bird Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead RF Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of low-power remote wireless control and management systems, including the implementation of radio communication capabilities in battery-powered devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of wireless communication systems, including the specification, design, and testing of radio communication capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify customer requirements and develop solutions that meet those needs.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, cost-effective engineering designs, and test plans that include design for testability and manufacturability.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that products meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering management, sales teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that project goals are met.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • 9+ years of progressive electronic design engineering experience in a high-volume consumer product environment.
  • Excellent English communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
  • Direct experience developing and implementing wireless, battery-powered IoT devices for high-volume manufacture and associated IoT communications networks and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with all phases of printed circuit board design, including schematic capture, board layout, and fabrication.
  • Experience in design and simulation of circuit board layouts for global EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Ability to test and assess wireless communication functions of products for robustness, stability, protocol, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including prototyping, testing, and validating designs using analog, digital, and RF test and measurement tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or equivalent engineering degree with RF or communications specialization.
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development and data networking architectures and technologies.
  • Experience with cellular communications systems, global cellular carriers, and cellular certification.
  • Ability to perform debug of hardware/firmware issues to identify root cause.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, DOE, SPC, and global regulatory testing and certification.
