Job Description:

As a Chemist III at the Department of State Health Services, you will play a critical role in analyzing environmental samples using gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography. You will work closely with the team to complete assigned tasks, track samples, and review data. Your expertise in laboratory quality control and quality assurance systems will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis on environmental samples.
  • Develop and validate methods for testing environmental samples.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our results.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete assigned tasks and track samples.
  • Review data and report results to the team leader.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental sciences, physical sciences, or biological sciences from an accredited institution.
  • Recent experience in performing gas chromatography and data processing and reporting of analytical data.
  • Experience working in a production laboratory environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA methods for testing environmental samples and skill in performance of the methods.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and other hazardous materials. You must be able to wear personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
