Job Summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Lead to join our team. As a key member of our commercialization team, you will be responsible for developing and executing communications strategies to support our industry collaborations and commercialization efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communications Strategy Development
    • Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to support PNNL's commercialization efforts, including news and media strategies, outreach/engagement strategies, digital campaigns, and technology and software marketing plans.
  • Audience Understanding
    • Understand our target audiences, including current and prospective licensees and partners, and develop insights and materials to support their needs.
  • Relationship Building
    • Build and maintain outstanding relationships with OCC leadership, staff, and industry contacts, and work closely with PNNL's science communicators to align communications efforts.
  • Lead Generation
    • Drive lead generation through external communications efforts and strategic plans, including news and media strategies, outreach/engagement strategies, digital campaigns, and technology and software marketing plans.
  • Internal Communications
    • Develop and implement an internal communications and events strategy to engage PNNL researchers and boost their awareness of OCC's mission and value.
  • Industry Partnerships
    • Build and foster relationships with associations and organizations to build networks, identify opportunities for speaking engagements and events, and drive business.
  • Collaboration and Alignment
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and align commercialization communication outcomes with institutional strategies and plans.
  • Brand Alignment
    • Align with and support the PNNL brand through all communications efforts and products.
  • Industry Trends
    • Stay current with communications and commercialization industry trends and opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Proven experience as a senior B2B communication or marketing executive in a research company focused on tech transfer, commercialization, licensing, and partnerships.
    • Strategic communications development experience to drive high-level communications planning, aligning annual initiatives with long-term vision and objectives.
    • Understanding of demand generation marketing and multi-channel campaigns with a talent for translating business goals to communications strategy.
    • Experience and talent in providing guidance on market positioning, competitive differentiation, and emerging trends.
    • Recognized collaboration skills and experience working in cross-functional teams to plan and execute outcomes-focused communications work.
    • Experience defining, tracking, and reporting on communications objectives to prove value of communications efforts and determine future approaches.
    • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Creative thinker with a strategic approach to problem-solving.
    • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Confident executive presence with a track record of effective collaboration with and strategic support for senior executives.
