Job Summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Specialist to join our team. As a Quality Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our construction aggregates and materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site.
  • Adhere to testing methods, including American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
  • Document and report test results in a timely and accurate manner, interpreting, documenting, and storing the results.
  • Communicate test results to supervisors and properly document in a database.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in and around the lab, troubleshoot problems, and review basic product specifications.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.
  • Monitor stockpiles, materials sources, and truckloads at plant sites to ensure segregation and contamination are kept to a minimum or eliminated.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
Requirements
  • Prior training or experience in the materials testing field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is preferred.
  • Must display knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.
  • Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
  • Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.
