Position Overview: The Physical Education Instructor is responsible for executing daily instructional plans in a manner that promotes effective learning. This role involves creating a supportive classroom environment that fosters personal growth and establishes strong rapport with students while ensuring proper classroom management. The instructor collaborates effectively with school administrators and fellow educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts classes as assigned in designated locations and times.
- Develops and implements instructional plans aligned with district curriculum.
- Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Establishes reasonable rules that promote self-discipline and accountability.
- Guides students towards achieving educational goals and curriculum standards.
- Utilizes diverse instructional techniques and media.
- Familiarizes self with and adheres to policies and procedures set forth by the Board of Education and Administration.
- Creates and implements intervention programs as necessary.
- Takes necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, and facilities.
- Keeps accurate records as mandated by law and district policy.
- Assists administration in enforcing policies governing student conduct.
- Serves as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, a positive attitude, and respectful communication.
- Communicates high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
- Participates in staff meetings and IEP meetings as required.
- Meets professional behavior standards.
- Administers assessments as directed by administration.
- Engages with parents as needed for effective communication.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction as outlined in daily plans.
- Maintains professional rapport with parents, colleagues, administration, and the School Board.
- Supervises classroom students, paraprofessionals, and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher required.
- Teacher license/certification as required by state or district.
- Preferred: One year of experience as a school teacher.
- Ability to accept responsibility for the safety and well-being of others.
- Proficient in reading and implementing instructional plans and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Adherence to professional standards of practice.
- Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- Health clearance as required by regulations.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Strong communication skills, proficiency in English required.
- Computer proficiency is essential.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
