Job Summary

Clinica Romero is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Public Policy and Advocacy to lead our organization's advocacy efforts. This role will support issues identified by our CEO and board of directors, and will be responsible for promoting FQHCs and their patients' interests among government officials, legislators, and community partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public policy, advocacy, and healthcare, with experience in coalition-building, grassroots initiatives, and policy analysis. They will be able to communicate complex information clearly and effectively, and will have a strong understanding of the state and federal legislative and budget processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the organization's advocacy efforts
  • Support issues identified by the CEO and board of directors
  • Promote FQHCs and their patients' interests among government officials, legislators, and community partners
  • Develop and implement grassroots initiatives and policy analysis
  • Collaborate with public policy and community affairs colleagues to create and support policies and issues with mutual impact

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of five years of experience in public policy, advocacy, and healthcare
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish
  • Minimum of five years of experience in public policy, advocacy, and healthcare at the national, state, and local level
  • Ability to analyze public policy proposals, including the drafting of legislative language
  • Experience in communicating with high-level congressional and executive branch policymakers and staff
