Job Summary

The University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a highly qualified Research Director to join the Center on Reproductive Health, Law, and Policy. The successful candidate will play a key role in building and diversifying the Center's research agenda, ensuring it has a significant impact on reproductive health and justice topics.

The Research Director will lead and conduct research projects, produce research for reports, policy white papers, and other writing to influence law, policy, or narrative change. They will also supervise research data analysts, research fellows, graduate student researchers, and research assistants.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research record on reproductive rights, health, and justice, with a minimum of 8 years of policy-relevant social science research experience. They will be skilled in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research and have experience managing and maintaining effective research teams and partnerships.

The Research Director will report to the Center's Executive Director and collaborate closely with the Legal and Policy Director, legal/policy team, and communications staff to ensure work is effectively connected to influencing legal and policy perspectives and aligns with the Center's ultimate goals for impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct research projects
  • Produce research for reports, policy white papers, and other writing
  • Supervise research data analysts, research fellows, graduate student researchers, and research assistants
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with reproductive health and justice advocates, scholars, providers, and policy makers
  • Manage and develop new methods of regularly sharing research with advocates, policy makers, and providers
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent
  • At least 8 years of social science research experience
  • Expertise on reproductive health and justice issues
  • Strong research record on reproductive rights, health, and justice
  • Skilled in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research
  • Experience managing and maintaining effective research teams and partnerships
