Job Title: Assistant Department Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Department Manager in achieving sales/operational results through hiring, training, goal setting, decision-making, and supervising employees within the department.
  • Represent A Culture of Caring and The Pursuit of Excellence through the support of Big Y's Mission & Vision.
  • Demonstrate a passion for food through interactive sales techniques.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Project a clean and professional appearance.
  • Work collaboratively as a team player with a positive attitude and businesslike conduct.
  • Operate within Company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the store.
  • Prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Utilize excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Learn and utilize computer applications.
Essential Functions:
  • Recruit, interview, and select employees while mirroring the community we serve.
  • Supervise, direct, set goals, and delegate tasks of employees in the department using independent judgment.
  • Create and alter weekly scheduled shifts for employees in the department while controlling payroll costs.
  • Arrange for ongoing training and communication with all employees working within your area.
  • Prepare trainees for a management position.
  • Cultivate growth through the cross-development of high potential employees.
  • Evaluate, coach, reward, recognize employees, and celebrate successes.
