POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive accounting support for significant projects and enhancing operational efficiencies. This role encompasses a thorough understanding of all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, payor contracting, and revenue cycle oversight. The individual will play a key role in process improvement initiatives, documentation of workflows, conducting research and analysis, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with audit preparations, among other responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee monthly financial closing processes and prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Conduct general account analyses and reconciliations, including bank statements and fixed asset records.
  • Manage monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and fixed asset depreciation, ensuring timely updates to insurance providers regarding asset changes.
  • Support daily, monthly, and year-end operations within the Finance Department.
  • Establish and maintain a system for recording fixed assets, including procedures and controls.
  • Lead initiatives that facilitate external audits and reviews.
  • Generate financial reports, including statements and key financial metrics.
  • Collaborate on projects aimed at enhancing systems and procedures within both costing and financial domains.
  • Review general ledger postings for accuracy in accounts and costs.
  • Provide accounting insights for product margin reviews and cost assessments.
  • Safeguard organizational value by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Develop and recommend accounting policies and procedures to maintain control.
  • Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and addressing inquiries.
  • Resolve financial discrepancies through thorough analysis of account information.
  • Assist in managing federal, state, and local tax obligations, coordinating with tax auditors and government entities.
  • Compile and analyze monthly sales and use tax data.
  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of reimbursement contracts with managed care organizations and private payors.
  • Support the development of payor strategies and relationships to enhance negotiation and contract renewal processes.
  • Work closely with the revenue cycle team to ensure accurate revenue recognition and reimbursements.
  • Assist with various ad-hoc projects and inquiries as required.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Strong foundation in basic accounting principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Awareness of current business trends.
  • Familiarity with financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and partners.
  • High professionalism and strong organizational capabilities; adept at managing multiple tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA credentials are advantageous.
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or relevant industry roles.
  • Experience in cost accounting is a plus.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and process excellence.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience in laboratory or hospital settings is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar multi-dimensional databases is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines efficiently.
