Job Summary

We are seeking a Dishwasher to join our team at Village Inn Rio Rancho. As a Dishwasher, you will be responsible for washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans, using dishwashers or by hand. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas.

Responsibilities
  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to the cook's line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
  • Change dishwater in the dish machine every hour.
  • Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand.
  • Remove trash and garbage to the dumpster.
  • Set up or break down the dish-washing area.
  • Clean and roll/unroll mats.
  • Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
  • Sweep/mop floors.
  • Assemble/disassemble the dish machine.
  • Sweep up trash around the exterior of the restaurant and garbage dumpster.
  • Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
  • Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
  • Notify the manager any time the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures.
  • Do not touch dirty dishes before touching clean dishes without washing hands first.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as directed.
Requirements
  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel.
  • Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Restaurant industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant food safety and sanitation laws, principles, procedures, and practices.
Work Environment

This job operates in a fast-paced restaurant setting. The noise level is usually moderate to high. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to: Slipping, tripping, and falls.

This position requires constant standing. All positions may require constant, frequent, or occasional: standing, walking, lifting, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an hourly position. Scheduled hours vary by restaurant needs, including necessary adjustments made during high and low seasonal changes. Typical days and hours of work for this position are Monday-Sunday 5am-12am or later (varying shifts). Other days/hours and holidays required as needed or assigned.
