Responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant:

  • Care for Patients: Provide personal care and hygiene services to patients in facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work with physicians, RNs, LPNs, and aides to deliver excellent patient care
  • Assist with Daily Needs: Help patients with bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, eating, and nutritional intake
  • Support Ambulation and Transfers: Assist patients with walking, transferring, and range of motion exercises
  • Monitor Patient Conditions: Check vitals, measure intake/output, monitor blood glucose, and document any changes
  • Notify Supervisors: Inform supervisors of patient issues requiring a change in care, medication, or equipment

Requirements for Certified Nursing Assistants:

  • Education and Certification: High school diploma (or equivalent) and active Nursing Assistant Certification in Minnesota
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of CNA experience in a medical facility
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Laws and Regulations: Familiarity with state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
  • Compassionate Nature and Communication Skills: Possess a compassionate nature, good communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
