About the Role

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated civil engineer with a strong background in successfully completing water, wastewater, and/or stormwater projects for local governments and private clients.

You will be responsible for working with utility owners, such as local municipalities and utility authorities, in the delivery of critical water and sewer services, as well as other community facilities.

You will also be responsible for growing and managing your own team, working with existing clients, and growing Wooten's water/wastewater utilities presence in South Carolina.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain effective liaison and relationships with clients on a variety of water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
  2. Proactively engage in the development of new business, with a focus on existing clients.
  3. Develop project scope, budgets, and work plans and manage project adhering to these items.
  4. Consult with project team to provide technical guidance; outline work plan; assign duties and responsibilities; and resolve problems.
  5. Direct, coordinate, and supervise activities of project personnel and team members to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  6. Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff for team work and their career growth.
  7. Preparation of necessary calculations, reports, specifications, and other project materials.
  8. Motivate team personnel toward performance excellence in all assigned tasks.
  9. Assist Practice with achievement of Financial Goals.
  10. Perform QA/QC functions to help ensure projects meet client expectations and engineering excellence.
  11. Take an active role in the preparation of proposals, including development of work, schedules, fees, and overall content.
Requirements

B.S. Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program.

Minimum of 10-14 years of experience as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a consulting engineering environment.

SC licensed Professional Engineer (or if licensed outside SC, ability to obtain SC license within one year).

A foundational knowledge of Project Management techniques, and a desire to expand these skills.

Strong experience with engineering design and construction administration for municipal utility projects.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations, primarily concerning municipal water and wastewater treatment plant projects.

Experience with public infrastructure project financing and NCDOT is a plus.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (O365) applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Experience with hydraulic modeling and with Civil 3D is preferred.

Strong understanding of engineering project process from inception to completion through construction.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to present to clients and plan/conduct meetings.

Ability to work in a team environment.
