Maintenance Mechanic 2 Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic 2 to join our team at the Department of Fish and Wildlife. As a Maintenance Mechanic 2, you will play a critical role in inspecting and maintaining fish screen facilities and fish ways along the South Area route. Your work will ensure that these facilities meet WDFW and NOAA Fisheries biological protection standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, operation, and maintenance of fish screens and fish ways
  • Diagnose and repair or replace component screen parts
  • Work under journey level trades worker or work independently to inspect and maintain proper operating criteria for fish screens
Working Conditions:

Work is performed on rough terrain in all weather conditions. Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations. Work requires employee to bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, and lift 50 pounds repetitively when loading and unloading trucks or moving materials around project site.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver's license
