Job Description

Wellington Foods Inc is seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Lead to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating and leading the activities of the sanitation team to ensure a sanitary environment necessary for the production of safe, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and assign daily sanitation tasks to team members, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Ensure team members complete and properly document daily sanitation activities, maintaining accurate records of all completed tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enforce current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Coordinate and communicate sanitation needs and activities with other departments to support seamless operations.
  • Mentor and motivate team members, providing training and development to enhance performance and foster personal growth.
  • Clearly communicate performance standards, recognize individual and team achievements, and address performance issues constructively as needed.
  • Ensure all sanitation activities meet safety and quality standards in accordance with cGMP procedures and company policies.
  • Provide on-the-job training and SOP guidance to new sanitation personnel.
  • Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist team members in other areas to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Exercise sound judgment to complete new tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance the Sanitation Program.
  • Support the Supervisor in ensuring adherence to company rules and policies.
  • Maintain open, ongoing communication with the Sanitation Supervisor regarding work-related matters.
  • Lead by example and support the team to achieve goals.
  • Communicate daily production schedules and tasks to sanitation personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor or the Maintenance and Facility Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety protocols.
  • Serve as a backup for food safety responsibilities in the absence of key personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Required: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory role, ideally within sanitation.
  • Preferred: 3 years of experience in a sanitation role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Capability to stay focused and alert, use basic math skills, and audit documentation.
  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to change.
  • Must have forklift certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver in tight areas.
  • Requires repetitive motions, including bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Must have the ability to perform tasks in varying temperatures, including hot, cold, and humid environments.
  • Visual acuity to inspect work and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to wear and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Must maintain physical stamina and focus in a fast-paced environment.
