Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled PET/CT Coordinator to join our team at RadNet. As a key member of our imaging department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our PET/CT program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Eligibility and Benefits Verification: Verify patient eligibility and benefits for primary and secondary insurances, including Medicare and PPO/HMO plans.
  • Authorization and Pre-Determination: Follow authorization and pre-determination status for pending PPO/HMO costly PET and nuclear medicine isotopes, and coordinate with referring offices as needed.
  • Clinical Documentation: Assist in obtaining clinical documentation for PET/CT exams to submit with claims and expedite payment from Medicare and PPO insurance plans.
  • Eligibility and Authorization: Verify eligibility and authorization for PET and nuclear medicine costly isotope A-codes for authorized procedures, including accurate and timely documentation and completion of necessary paperwork.
  • Clinical Information Review: Review clinical information from PET schedulers to determine medical necessity and coverage criteria.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the RIS system for each patient, according to established standards.
  • Patient Communication: Work with patients, physicians, and referring offices to obtain complete and correct insurance information, discuss eligibility results, and explore alternative payment methods.
  • Pre-Authorizations: Obtain and confirm insurance pre-authorizations when necessary.
  • Training and Development: Train new employees holding roles on this team.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality: Follow all HIPAA, compliance, privacy, and confidentiality standards, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Professionalism and Communication: Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy to patients, families/guests, and team members, and communicate clearly and effectively with vendors, patients, referring physicians, coworkers, and team members.
  • Information Provision: Provide thorough and accurate information to all callers.
  • Difficult Situations: Maintain self-control when dealing with difficult patients and/or situations, and involve manager or team leader when necessary.
  • Account and Procedure Verification: Maintain a log of accounts/procedures verified.
  • Collaboration and Scanning: Work closely with referring physicians' staff to obtain patient notes and begin the process of authorizations, and scan all completed paperwork into eRad RIS.
  • Paperwork and Compliance: Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, and promote a positive and supportive relationship with referring community and fellow employees.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three years of Nuclear Medicine and/or PET/CT scheduling experience
  • Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems (preferably eRad)
  • Possesses and utilizes excellent customer service skills, strong public relations skills, and exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, possess clerical skills, and have the ability to interact effectively with doctors, referring doctors and staff, patients, vendors, peers, and management
