As a Manager in Training, you will gain essential skills to effectively oversee daily operations at a Cumberland Farms convenience store, guided by our experienced leaders.

During your training, you will work closely with a Training Manager and Supervising Manager, experiencing various shifts to familiarize yourself with our company, team, vendors, and customers.

This role supports the Store Manager and team members in providing an outstanding shopping experience for our guests.


Training Structure:

Throughout designated training weeks, Managers in Training will collaborate with Training Managers, learning valuable insights and best practices for managing a convenience store.

During supervisory weeks, you will engage in various shifts alongside team members, applying your leadership training in real scenarios.

Post-training, you will become part of our leadership bench, stepping in during absences until assigned to your own store.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome guests warmly and with a smile, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Assist the Store Manager in developing a strong team through training, scheduling, and coaching.
  • Lead by establishing clear goals, holding yourself and others accountable, and maintaining effective communication.
  • Monitor inventory levels on the sales floor, ensuring products are rotated and fully stocked.
  • Oversee quality control, merchandising, and food safety protocols in locations offering prepared food.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, including the coffee station, food service area, and restrooms.
  • Efficiently operate the cash register.
  • Assist the Store Manager in managing quality control and safety programs for food service operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager or District Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in retail or food service

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership role within retail, guest service, or restaurant environments
  • ServSafe/Food Safety certification is a plus but not required

Essential Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with guests and team members
  • High energy and adaptability

  • Basic computer skills

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to work various hours, including nights and weekends, as Cumberland Farms locations may operate 24 hours.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 40 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand or walk for 8 hours a day and perform various physical tasks.

Specialized attire may be required in food service areas (hats, gloves, etc. provided).
