Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team at UNC Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our medical staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our office, and delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as revenue cycle and financial audit guidelines.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, process financial information, and provide patient billing information.
  • Demonstrate effective customer service and computer skills, including filing, answering phones, and providing complete and accurate information.
  • Accurately perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, process privileged patient health information, balance daily receipts, and respond to billing questions.
  • Schedule patient appointments, entering all required demographic and clinical information into the system, and coordinating with other parties.
  • Order and maintain clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with established safety and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, OSHA, and infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Participate in unit performance improvement activities and demonstrate good customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • No licensure or certification required, but completion of an accredited medical administrative assisting program and previous experience in a medical office are preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to enter and process data accurately.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week. The salary range is $21.41 per hour, and pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
