Job Summary

The Dimensional/Layout Inspector & CMM Programmer is responsible for carrying out the following key responsibilities:

  • Running CMM pre-existing programs
  • Creating new Part programs
  • Reading blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Inspecting products on open setup
Essential Job Functions/Duties

The successful candidate will perform the following essential duties:

  • Performing visual and dimensional inspection of castings to determine conformance to blueprints or electronic file requirements
  • Interpreting geometrically dimensioned and tolerance engineering drawings
  • Performing First Article Inspection Reports using AS9102 Forms as required
  • Working with dimensional inspection measurement equipment such as surface plates, sine plates, height gages, radii gages, calipers, micrometers, and other assorted hand measurement equipment
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience in utilizing both CMM and hand equipment to perform dimensional inspection techniques
  • American Society for Metals (ASM) Laboratory Certification is preferred
  • Other required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
    • Computer skills: Virtual Dimensional Measuring Interface Specification (DMIS) 6.0, Virtual DMIS, Routine CMM Operation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
    • Expert PC-DMIS Knowledge required
    • Polyworks And Bluelight scanning a plus
    • Software experience: Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
    • Ability to read blueprints in order to determine and measure features and tolerances
    • Ability to interpret reduced dimension drawings
    • Ability to program using electronic models
    • Surface Plate Inspection using Standard Inspection Tools
    • Knowledge of Aerospace Standard (AS) 9100 requirements
    • Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
