Job Title: Senior Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team at the City of New Haven. As a key member of our City Plan Department, you will be responsible for leading complex planning projects, developing strategic plans, and managing project budgets and resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the department in negotiations with city, state, and federal agencies and prospective developers.
  • Manage complex planning studies, development applications, and reviews of consultant proposals.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to guide long-term urban development goals.
  • Develop project budgets, administer bidding processes, verify contract expenditures, and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct research and prepare statistical reports on land use, physical, social, and economic issues.
  • Utilize advanced computer database, mapping, drafting, and design programs to support planning activities and enhance data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Provide professional planning assistance on varied land use projects.
  • Develop plans, studies, and analyses.
  • Oversee field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with relevant advisory boards, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in planning, public or business administration, law, or a related field.
  • AICP Certification preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in urban planning, economic or real estate development, or a related field.
