The Senior Product Operations Manager serves as a key authority in overseeing the Operations Analytics product suite, systems, and methodologies.
As an individual contributor, this position will exercise significant judgment to guide and facilitate collaboration with Business Intelligence managers, analysts, developers, and partner teams to enhance efficiencies through technological advancements.
This role is accountable for establishing standards and best practices for optimal implementations of our analytical tools at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
Key Responsibilities:
As a key authority in technical product delivery, process enhancement, and business intelligence, orchestrates multiple substantial projects to deliver essential analytical tools and support for Alaska's Operations and HR divisions.
Facilitates planning sessions, establishes a business impact scoring system to assist in prioritization, and collaborates with Business Intelligence, Data Science, and ITS leadership to identify commitments.
Identifies and comprehends customer requirements and translates them into specifications. Ensures that specifications are thoroughly understood and that implementation strategies align with expectations.
Acts as the key authority on Operations Analytics data products, their applications, technical lineage, and business implications. Advocates for our products through various community platforms and internal events. Maintains our data catalog, including customer-facing sites to represent our products and showcase self-help documentation.
Oversees data governance and the product lifecycle for Operations Analytics data offerings. Defines success criteria for testing and product acceptance. Facilitates the creation and upkeep of comprehensive product documentation. Identifies opportunities to minimize redundancies and support a single "source of truth" for key metrics and data products.
Assists Business Intelligence leadership with a management framework to streamline the intake, development, delivery, and ongoing management of data products and business relationships.
Establishes standards and best practices for superior deployments of our analytical tools. Keeps abreast of technical trends and their implications for our roadmap.
Plays a pivotal role in our change management strategy, articulating a plan to advance the analytical platforms through new products, upgrades, and features.
With minimal guidance from leadership, tracks issues and drives resolutions. Addresses program-level impediments. Identifies and communicates any unresolved issues with suggested corrective actions. Manages risks and responses to those risks. Plans for contingencies by establishing appropriate connections between risk, scope, schedule, and resources.
Monitors server loads and cloud computing expenses to gather performance and usage metrics. Identifies opportunities for productivity, efficiency, or financial enhancements.
Builds robust relationships with development, engineering, infrastructure, network teams, and business partners, managing collaborative planning, project escalations, and customer concerns.
Required
7 years of experience in data analytics, technical product/project/program management, or a related field.
A bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, business, engineering, computer science, information technology, Technical Product Management, or a closely related discipline, or an additional 2 years of experience/training in lieu of a degree.
Familiarity with product management principles, practices, and tools.
Understanding of business requirements as defined by epics, features, user stories, and releases. Ability to collaborate closely with business partners to derive and execute impactful roadmaps.
In-depth understanding of database principles and experience in querying data from multiple sources using SQL, Python, Spark, or other advanced querying/database techniques.
Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with diverse team members.
Demonstrated ability to remain composed under pressure and be comfortable with uncertainty.
Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-improvement.
Exhibit a high level of accountability and ownership to drive assigned projects to meaningful outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring BI analysts.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Master's degree.
2+ years of experience in airline/transportation/logistics sectors.
Experience with Azure tools (primarily Databricks, Data Factory, and Synapse).
Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, and SSMS or similar.
Knowledge of distributed computing systems and cloud architecture.
Experience with data transformation in cloud-based analytics environments.
Experience in working with data lakes and unstructured data environments.

Salary Range:
$136,100 - $204,100 / year
Salary Details:
Compensation will be based on various factors, including but not limited to location, relevant experience/level, and skillset while ensuring internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
