Responsibilities:- Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, and document medical information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, perform EKGs, and other outpatient screening tests as needed
- Administer prescribed medications, give injections, and vaccines under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider
- Clerical and Administrative Tasks:
- Respond to patient phone calls, answer questions, and provide information within your scope of practice
- Prepare and send patient correspondence, complete medical forms, and maintain patient education materials
- Assist with scheduling appointments, preparing charts, and maintaining accurate records
- Environmental and Safety Responsibilities:
- Adhere to universal body fluids precautions and infection control policies
- Dispose of infectious waste properly, clean and disinfect equipment, and maintain a safe environment
- Perform daily code/crash cart checks and maintain temperature logs as needed
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Medical Assistant certification (MA-C)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or higher level equivalent preferred
- 1+ years of related experience preferred; 7+ years of experience working as an MA may be considered in lieu of MA program completion
