Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Dentist to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services. As a Supervisory Dentist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and administering a comprehensive dental health program for the Wanblee Health Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional dental care and manage the day-to-day clinical functions of the dental clinic.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of subordinate staff, including recruiting, hiring, and training.
  • Manage the dental budget and ensure that department expenditures are within allocated limits.
  • Ensure that the department adheres to accreditation requirements and maintains licensure.
  • Assign work to subordinates, approve leave, prepare performance plans, administer discipline, resolve grievances, and provide training and awards.
  • Initiate Human Resources actions for vacant positions, interview, and select candidates.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience or two (2) years residency program equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: coordinate the day-to-day clinical functions of a Dental Clinic; Provide professional dental care; Manage work schedules of subordinate staff; Advise in personnel matters relating to the dental staff including: recruiting and hiring; Maintains dental budget; Orientate new staff members and provide support staff training.
